Every spring I return to Ohio to photograph Great Blue Herons in a natural rookery. When I returned in 2014, one of the sycamore trees had fallen. The nests still in the tree were abandoned. Fortunately, the other sycamores still stood and herons could be seen flying around and nesting in nearby trees.
