Some folks like to people watch, I can easily spend days, weeks, months, years watching animals. It doesn't matter what kind, I find them all fascinating. It's a spectacular thing to catch a glimpse into their life. Some are very nurturing of their offspring and have family groups, while others live as if it's them against the world.

It's this love of animals that motivated me to write two books. The first one to be published was "Snakes" (ISBN: 1537775529), a children's book. There's not a lot of easy to find wildlife where I live, but I discovered a family of snakes that I visit regularly throughout the summer. Every day that I went out, when the weather was right, I knew I would see them. I would stand in the same spot on the trail and talk to them until I could find where they were hiding. It was a game for me. I would stand there and count them off as I found them. On an average day I would find between 3-6 snakes. It's not that I have a fascination with snakes, I don't. The snakes just happen to live nearby and were always there to photograph. If it has been a family of squirrels that lived nearby, the book would have been about them instead.

The second book was created for people like me, people who are fascinated by animals and want to witness them in their natural setting. The problem is finding those locations. Places where the animals are protected enough that they don't feel so threatened by humans that they disappear before you see them. The "Explorer's Guide to Wildlife Adventures" (ISBN: 9781975711351) is just that. It's places where the wildlife is abundant and photo or observation opportunities are countless.
